The creation of ‘Protect your child and change the world’

From an early age, I was preoccupied with questions about the meaning of life and the significance of protection, responsibility and inner guidance. This includes experiences of injustice, loss, unequal treatment and a sense of belonging.

How does one cope with life when it seems unjust? How do you remain capable of taking action when things get difficult? How does meaning emerge from experience?

Beliefs such as ‘Everything has a meaning’, ‘Life is a journey towards clarity’, ‘What will be, will be’ and ‘It’s always turned out all right in the end’ embody the trust that experiences can be part of a larger context.

Through my time spent abroad, I learnt how a sense of belonging can arise from everyday encounters. I had to re-evaluate, observe and understand many things. Language influenced how I felt in my new surroundings and how successfully I managed to become part of the community. These experiences formed the early foundation for my later exploration of interculturality.

Through my personal development, I became aware of how closely interpersonal relationships and social conditions are interwoven.

The key points of reference for my artistic work are Erich Fromm, Joseph Beuys and Martin Buber. For me, they bring together questions of humanity, responsibility, relationships and the shaping of society.

Furthermore, Stefanie Stahl and Gerald Hüther influence key aspects of my artistic practice. Stefanie Stahl’s insights are significant for my art because many relationship and self-esteem issues stem from early experiences and unconscious beliefs.

All these insights form the basis of my art. Human beings develop through relationships and humanity. When these conditions are lacking, hurt, forced conformity and alienation arise. The inner child becomes a capable and authentic self when these challenges are overcome in a positive way.

My artistic work operates at the intersection of the inner child, social sculpture and intercultural responsibility. It draws on Erich Fromm’s humanist perspective, Joseph Beuys’ expanded concept of art, Martin Buber’s dialogical thinking, Gerald Hüther’s ideas on the development of potential, and Stefanie Stahl’s work on the inner child.

For me, art is a means of expression and a form of communication. Creativity is the form my thinking takes. Creating in community is a process of relationship-building. The choice of colour and materials is shaped by experiences, encounters, relationships and emotions.
